Liber Winds wind quintet presents an evening of music from South America including the sounds and rhythms from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and Ecuador. Liber Winds was founded by clarinettist and saxophonist, Natalie Jacobs, when she travelled to Buenos Aires, Argentina to study tango as part of her Master in Music degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. In 2016 she obtained a grant through the PPCA to further her studies in South America to present new arrangements for the wind quintet. Liber Winds includes, Emily Smith (flute), Anneka Celotto (oboe), Billy Tanner (French Horn), Neil Heymink (bassoon) and Natalie Jacobs (clarinet).

Join BPO in a journey through a kaleidoscope of musical colour and symphonic favourites. From the Spanish rhythms of Ravel’s brilliant Boléro, the spectacle of Borodin’s exotic Polovtsian Dances, to the world premiere of a sparkling new flute concerto by Lisa Cheney. The concert concludes with Mussorgsky’s masterpiece of musical imagery, Pictures at an Exhibition.
